Mikie Locke‘s RBI single in the first gave Lennard the run needed to avenge last week’s district championship game, as Zack Bird (4ip, four hits, five K’s) and Carter Payne (2ip, no hits, five K’s) held Bloomingdale to just four hits. Alex Brazer and RJ Torres both hit two run homers in the fourth, as the Longhorns put up 11 runs on as many hits. Pierce Collins led off the home-first with a double and Vinny Dinzeo hit a double the next inning, but the Bulls couldn’t bring either runner in from scoring position. Lennard will travel to take on Sickles, Saturday at 7pm.

Plant unloaded with a nine-run third inning – highlighted by RBI doubles by Danny Cerrelli, Bryce Pelleriti and Trey Freeman – to put away visiting Sarasota in five innings. Kirk Kolono was 3-for-3, with a homer and four RBI, and Cash Strayer went 2-for-3, with a run and two RBI, and Tanner Swank scored twice and had two hits. Robert Satin pitched four innings, allowing one earned run and struck out four to earn his county-leading 10th win of the season. Plant will host Lakewood Ranch in the region semifinals at 7pm on Saturday.
