An RBI single from Wade Walton (2-for-3, run) and a bases-clearing double by Cash Peterson (1-for-4, three RBI) highlighted a six-run third inning for Newsome in a 7A-Region 2 semifinal game at Venice, answering a burst of early offense from the Indians. Unfortunately, Venice kept up the pace for one inning more, scoring on an RBI sac bunt by August Backman (2-for-2, RBI, two runs) to take the lead for good, and a David Dubrule (2-for-4, four RBI) two-run single to salt away the win. Braden Moon went 2-for-2, with two walks for the Wolves, as Newsome finishes the season 21-7.
