#9 Carrollwood Day 7
Tampa Prep 0
CDS senior Steve Vargo lined a double up the middle to start the home-first for the Patriots and later scored on an RBI single the same direction by Ashton Brown. That was all the support needed for senior Logan Mazur as the Patriots senior held visiting Tampa Prep off the scoreboard and to just five hits in 6 2/3 innings on the mound, while striking out five. Tampa Prep junior righty Liam Akins held CDS to just the one run in his five innings on the mound, before the Patriots touched up the Terrapins relievers for six, sixth-inning runs. Vargo (3-for-4, two runs) was once again struck the match for the Patriots scoring, leading off the sixth with his third hit of the game and scoring after a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch. A walk, another HBP, followed by an RBI single from Charlie Cooperman and a RBI sac fly from Mazur put the game well out of reach.

Willam Barrios‘ 11-strikeout, complete-game win – his second win of the week – highlighted an impressive 4-0 showing for Spoto in Week 1. The Spartans got on the scoreboard in the third inning, with a walk, followed by singles from Devin Dukes (2-for-4, 2 runs, stolen base) and Levert Sims Jr (2-for-4, RBI, stolen base) loading the bases; Qwenlen Bennett (2-for-4, run, 2 stolen bases) sent a ground ball single through shortstop for an RBI, followed immediately by a four-pitch walk drawn by Na’im Salter (1-for-3, 2 RBI, 2 stolen bases). Barrios shook off the Tornadoes lone run on an RBI single in the sixth, to work a 1-2-3 seventh with two strikeouts, but not before the Spartans added three insurance runs in the top-half of the inning with Sims and Salter picking up RBI hits, and a productive RBI groundout by David Ruiz.

#6 Tampa Catholic 10
Seffner Christian 4
Tampa Catholic and Seffner Christian stayed neck-and-neck early Saturday, with both teams scoring runs in each of the first three innings, but it was TC that pulled away adding five runs over the next two frames and taking a 10-4 win, the third win of the opening week. The first of TC senior Jose Carrero‘s RBI doubles kicked off the game’s scoring in the first; before SCA answered in the home-half with an RBI hit by Kris Colondres. TC would take the lead for good an inning later, first on a Chris Smith sac fly, followed by an RBI double by Cole Bitman (2-for-4, triple). Colondres and Brayden Nanns each homered for SCA in the loss; Andrew Montero had a double and scored a run; and Juelz Sidoti was 1-for-2 with a walk and RBI single. Cal Johnson homered to left for TC in the fourth; Smith added an RBI single to his day; and Carson Arnold had an RBI sac fly and RBI double.
