After digging an early hole, SLAM battled back in the sixth, taking advantage of three Cambridge Christian errors and surrounding them with four hits, all culminating in a two-run Giancarlo Labrada double to put the Spartans ahead. Senior Chucho Tirado held the Lancers to three hits and three walks, but no runs across 4 1/3 innings of relief and earned the win. Luca Gonazales was 3-for-3 for Cambridge Christian, and Ian Jansen was 1-for-3 with a double and RBI. SLAM will face off against Seffner Christian on the road at 4:30 on Thursday for the district title.

Lakeland Victory Christian 2 – five innings

Seffner Christian jumped out in a big way with a pair of five-run innings early in the game. Kaleb Williams doubled in the game’s first two runs, and Mason McBane added two more with a single. Kris Colondres doubled in a run in the third and ended the game early with a two-run homer to right field – all the scoring in support of starting pitcher Alejandro Hamana who allowed two runs on three hits and struck out six, working all five innings. The Crusaders will host SLAM in the district final on Thursday at 4:30 pm.

Bishop McLaughlin 6 – nine innings

Bishop McLaughlin’s Keith Jacobs (2-for-5, two runs) led off the seventh with a triple and scored on a Christopher Rodriguez (3-for-4, double, two RBI, run) single, and Rodriguez scored on a passed ball, before Tampa Catholic answered with two runs on a Dominic Woodward (3-for-5, four RBI) triple to force extra innings. The Crusaders earned a spot in Thursday’s district title game against Carrollwood Day when Jack Smyth hit a walk-off single to seal his win on the mound and drive in Cal Johnson, who had led off the ninth with a double. Smyth pitched four innings, and allowed three runs (one earned) with six strikeouts. Jose Carrero was 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored, and Cole Bitman went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Elvys Quezada was 1-for-3 for the Hurricanes with three RBI.

Following up on his no-hitter a week ago, Tampa Prep sophomore Erik Skiendziel held CCC to just one run on three hits and struck out eight in 6 2/3 innings, before senior Kyle Brill got a ground out to end the game and lock up the save. The Terrapins gave up a fourth inning run as Austin Snyder led off with a walk, moved around and scored on a double-steal, but Tampa Prep put the game away in the sixth inning with four runs when Grant Brooks singled in a pair to give his team the lead. #1-seed Tampa Prep will host St. Pete Catholic on Thursday for the 2A-10 championship at 7 pm.

Jesuit hosts Countryside Wednesday night at 7 to decide the 4A-9 crown.

East Bay’s Mike Mowell pitched a complete game, allowing one run on four hits and struck out eight helping the Indians reach the district final on Thursday. Connor Gavigan‘s two-run double broke open a scoreless game in the fifth, and he added a two run single in the sixth and now has a county-leading 38 RBI. Hillsborough’s Evan Isaac was 2-for-3 with an RBI single in the sixth inning. The Indians will host Spoto in Thursday’s district final at 7 pm.

Junior Devin Dukes lead off the game with a triple and scored on an Eli Sims RBI sac fly, and Spoto added some insurance scoring on a Qwenlen Bennett flyable in the third. Caleb Rodriguez pitched seven innings for the Falcons, striking out nine and allowing two runs on six hits, and David Lemus was 2-for-3.

Bulls senior Hayden Porter struck out 11 in five innings as Bloomingdale ended things early against Bartow in the district semifinal. AJ Cruz and Luke Long went back-to-back with doubles to start the scoring off in the first inning as the Bulls hung seven runs in the opening frame. Payton Jennings was 2-for-2 with a run and RBI, Cesar Campos drove in a pair, and John Ramos had an RBI double. Bloomingdale will host Durant in the district final on Thursday.

Durant answered a pair of Horizon runs with five runs on four hits in the first to pull away from the Hawks and book a spot in Thursday’s district final against Bloomingdale. Shawn Graves picked up the first of two hits on the night, scoring his teams first run and later added an RBI, Tristan Macpherson singled in one inch first and added an RBI sac fly in the third, Brody Lissy was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, Zach Nero earned the win, allowing one earned run and striking out four in four innings, Dylan Hotz struck out four in two no-hit innings, and Haydn May pitched a scoreless seventh inning.

Wharton junior Connor Evans struck out five and held Wiregrass Ranch to three hits in a complete-game shutout win. After the Wildcats picked up a run on a double-play in the first inning, Chase Andress singled in a pair of runs to push the game out of reach. Drew Cobb and Andress each homered in the win, and Justis Meadows (triple) and Jarius Morris (double) were each 1-for-3 with a run scored. Wharton will host Sunlake on Thursday at 7 pm for the title.

Steinbrenner senior Austin Liss led off the game with a homer, then added an RBI double in the second, and drove in a run with an RBI single in a six-run third as the Warriors put down Gaither the the 6A-10 semifinals. Ty Ciccarello doubled in a run and Kason Bell hit a solo home run for Steinbrenner, all in support of senior Kelton Meares who worked six innings, struck out four and allowed two runs. Albert Antinori was 2-for-3 with a solo home run and two runs scored for the Cowboys. Steinbrenner will face top seed Plant in the district championship, Thursday at 7 pm.

Armwood took an early lead in the second, highlighted by a Princeton Clark (2-for-4, double, 2 RBI) RBI single, but Plant answered in the third with five in the third with Cash Strayer driving in a run and Urban Ellis (2-for-3, double, three RBI) hitting a two-run homer; Jackson Cucchi was 1-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI, Brody Vermette doubled and drove in a run, and Desan DeCamp was 2-for-2 with a double, walk and run scored. Rhys Brush was 2-for-5 with two RBI for the Hawks. Plant will host Steinbrenner Thursday at 7 pm.

Senior Brandon Gonzales (2-for-2, RBI) pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowed one unearned runs on one hit and Connor Bly  struck out three over 2 1/3 innings with no hits allowed. Jaden Nazar had an RBI double and scored a run in the win.

Plant City senior Hagan Smith held Strawberry Crest to five hits and a walk, striking out six in a complete-game shutout as the Raiders offense scored a run in three innings to put away the Chargers. Keegan Wilkerson doubled to left to drive in the deciding run in the second inning; Drew Cothren tripled in the third and scored on a ground ball single to right by Alex Rodriguez to add some insurance; and Lane Baxter walked and scored on two errors in the seventh to finish off the game.

Newsome senior Isaiah Sanchez pitched four shutout innings as Tuesday’s 7A-7 semifinal went deep into extra innings, then he walked off the win with a game-ending ground ball that scored Evan Plusquellic (who doubled). Joshua Abrahante singled in a pair of runs for the Ravens in the third inning, and Bryan Alonspitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing one earned and striking out eight, before Marcelo Diaz Villalon struck out five but was tagged with the loss, allowing one unearned run. Ocean Cozart was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs for the Wolves, Aiden Dolan struck out four in 2 2/3 innings, allowing one earned, Robbie DiPietro pitched 2 1/3 innings striking out seven, and Lincoln Jordy was 1-for-2 with an RBI. Newsome will host Plant City in the 7A-7 final at 7 pm.
