Jesuit won a morning game in the USA Baseball Invitational from Cary, NC as Cannon Murtagh singled in a pair of runs in the sixth inning to put the Tigers ahead. Samir Mohammed struck out 10 in a no-decision, allowing five runs (two earned) in his four innings; Jack Fults, Eric Knowles (win) and Hector Rivera (Save, 3 K) each pitched scoreless innings of relief; Ben Burke went 2-for-3 with two runs scored; Christian Sheffield doubled and scored a run; and Brady Marshall went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Shorecrest Prep and Brooks DeBartolo traded leads a couple of times as the Chargers three-run third – keyed by RBI double from Luke Lavoie and Kevlar Stoss (who would score the decider on a passed ball) – would hold up for a win. Jordan Black went 1-for-2 with a pair of runs scored for Shorecrest Prep; Devon Walton earned the win with four innings pitched, three earned on three hits and four walks and struck out four; and Lavoie pitched the final three innings for the Chargers, allowing just two hits and a walk, while also striking out four. TJ Tate was 2-for-4 with a double and run scored for the Phoenix, David Roston went 1-for-3 with a double and two runs scored; and Gabriel Machado struck out nine, allowing three earned over six innings of work in the loss.

Foundation Christian stretched out a lead and gave Caleb Hom enough support for the sophomore to work around 11 Storm hits and three runs, for a complete-game win where he had 10 strikeouts. Back-to-back RBI doubles by Peyton Coakley (3-for-4) and Henry Salter in the third inning got the Panthers started; and Hom was 2-for-4 with an RBI at the plate.

Wharton’s Brayden Bodenstein (2-for-2) singled in the fifth and scored on an error to give the Wildcats the lead, before an RBI single by Tomas Rivera put the game out of reach. Senior Cooper Antalek struck out five, allowing one unearned run over five innings of work, before Daniel Duno worked the final two frames with a run allowed and three strikeouts to pick up the save. SJ Branham had a single in the first, where an error on the play would give the Cowboys an early lead and the senior belted a solo home run for Gaither in the sixth. Wharton senior Chase Anello homered to right in the fourth inning, and the Wildcats scored three in the seventh – highlighted by a double and run by Chris Stroud (2-for-3, two runs) and a single and run from Connor Evans.

A costly passed ball allowed two Strawberry Crest runs in the second as the Chargers pulled away from Newsome early. Josh Cespedes was 2-for-3 with an RBI and scored three runs, Yusvanny Parr was 2-for-4 with three RBI, Adam Renfroe was 1-for-3 with two RBI, and Toby Highsmith singled in a run in the win. Saxon Shah pitched three innings, allowing one earned and striking out two to pick up his fifth win, Bubba Blount pitched three innings allowing one unearned and struck out two and Jayden Taylor closed things out with a scoreless inning of relief. Alec Chin and Cole Walton went back-to-back with doubles in the first to give Newsome a brief lead, as both had two hits in the loss. Aiden Smitson was 2-for-3 with an RBI single and and RBI groundout in the loss.

An Adrian Marin RBI sac fly and two double-steals broke open a tie game in the second inning as Sickles scored a three-spot and put away Freedom on the road. Lee Melamut had an RBI sac fly and a two run double to pace the Gryphons offense; Evan Pedersen was 2-for-2 with two runs scored; Chase Twiss held the Patriots to one unearned run over four innings to pick up the win; and Peter Tsikouris had four strikeouts in a three-inning save. David Simpkins singled and scored a run in the first for Freedom on an RBI double Logan Handville.

Tampa Catholic junior Finn Fluker tossed a five-inning no-hitter as the Crusaders offense score in each of its four at-bats against CDS. Fluker issued one walk, while striking out six to earn his third win of the year. back-to-back RBI sac flies from Jack Smythe and Blake Brown in the first inning gave the Crusaders all the runs needed, while DJ Ford was 2-for-2 with a walk, two runs and an RBI, and Cole Bitman was 2-for-3 with a walk, two RBI and a run scored in the win.
