Freedom junior RHP Gaige Spano tossed a perfect game on Saturday.

Freedom junior Gage Spano tossed a perfect game, needing just 71 pitches – 55 for strikes – as the Patriots defeated Morgan. Spano struck out eight; David Simpkins went 4-for-5 with a double; Logan Handville was 3-for-3 with two souls and two RBI; Parker Crafton went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI; and Devon Acord doubled, scored twice and drove in two; and Dominick Commiso was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. The game ended on a highlight play as a ground ball hit the third base bag, was picked up by Commiso and fired across the diamond, where Simpkins picked it out of the dirt for the out.

Gaither senior RHP Mathew Altman became Hillsborough County’s first 10-game winner with a one-hit, complete-game shutout against Strawberry Crest.

Gaither senior Mathew Altman‘s stellar season continued as the righty delivered a one-hit complete-game gem, striking out seven as Gaither scored a trio of runs late to put the Chargers away. Albert Antinori (2-for-3) led off the home-sixth with a double, scored the deciding run on a J Butler single to right; and Gaither aded some insurance on an RBI single by Jose Gutierrez, and a Martin Galo RBI sac fly. Altman, a FAMU signee is 10-0 on the season with an 0.26 ERA and 61 strikeouts.

Riverview 3 – eight innings

Jefferson escaped with a win as the Dragons loaded the bases in the first extra-inning and got a win against the visiting Sharks on a game-ending hit-by-pitch of Sam Hyman. Hyman got the start on the mound, pitching four scoreless innings, allowing two hits and two walks, while striking out three in a no-decision. Kaleb Cherry earned the win in relief, striking out the side in the top of the eighth inning, and was 2-for-4 with a double and scored the game’s first run on a John Oliver double; and senior Kaiden Johnson was 3-for-4 in the win. Riverview forced extra-innings with a seventh-inning rally as Jordan Shultz was hit by a pitch, Chase Motminy singled and both scored on a home run to left by Driston Marino.

Chamberlain put up nine hits and two walks, exploding for an eight-run seventh inning to take a road win off Robinson. Nahz Taylor tied the game at 7-apiece with a two-run double to center; Brennan Kay doubled in a run to give the Storm the lead; and Yenderzon Ruiz, Chris Rojo and Dairon Benitez (3-for-5)padded the lead with RBI singles. Xavier Ether was 3-for-4 with two RBI; Dylan Wormack went 2-for-3 with two RBI, three runs and earned a save on the mound; and Trey Sharpe went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Collin Rosenberg was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI for the Knights.

Newsome jumped out early with a three-run first inning, highlighted by an Aiden Smitson two run single and held on for a win on the road at Steinbrenner. Senior Cooper Topp held the Warriors to one run on how hits and five walks, while striking out four over 4 1/3 innings to earn the win; and Blaine Bole allowed one run on three hits with one strikeout the rest of the way. Alec Chin was 2-for-4 with two runs scored for the Wolves; Ocean Cozart went 2-for-3, with a double, RBI and two runs scored; and Trey Bosso was 1-for-1 with three walks and three runs scored. Will Hoblitzell was 2-for-2 with a double and two runs scored for Steinbrenner; and Ty Ciccarello went 1-for-3 with an RBI single.

Tampa Prep junior Erik Skiendziel struck out 10 and allowed one run over his five-inning start as the Terrapins pulled away in the second half of the game against New York’s St. Francis. Tyler Kin (2-for-2, three RBI, run) and Langston Sallis (3-for-3, triple, run) sparked a four-run fourth inning for Tampa Prep with RBI singles; Evan Bohlmann was 1-for-1, and scored three times.

Bloomingdale answered two third-inning Wharton runs with RBI doubles by seniors Vaughn Osting (3-for3, four runs, two RBI) and Payton Jennings (3-for-3, two runs, two RBI) before pulling away from the Wildcats with two big innings and ending things an inning early via the mercy rule. JJ Santiago was 2-for-4 with four RBI – including a two-run double to end the game early; Cesar Campos went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored; Evan Plusquellic went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI; and Javi Navas-Hoyer earned the win, pitching five innings, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks, and struck out six, before Gavin Mathis closed the door with two strikeouts in his one inning of relief. Chase Anello hit an RBI sacrifice fly in the third for the Wildcats, and Jairius Morris hit an RBI single; with Jeremiah Brown going 2-for-2 with a run scored.

Foundation Christian freshman Brody Kiernan needed just 87 pitches to wrap up a complete-game win against Keswick – allowing one run on two hits and three walks, while striking out three. A pair of two-out walks put men aboard for the Panthers in the first and Brady Green lined a two-run double to left field to give FCA all it would need. For Keswick, Evan Lightfield allowed just two hits and four walks, taking the loss with five strikeouts; and Landon Wilson doubled in the Crusaders’ only run in the fourth inning, scoring Caleb Stratis (2-for-3) who had singled.

Bell Creek got two-out singles from Braylin Wilson (2-for-3, two runs) and William Miller in the seventh inning and both advanced a base as Sarasota Christian threw the ball around, setting up the Panthers walking off the win as Wilson scored the game winner on a wild pitch. Evan Booker worked six scoreless innings before allowing two hits and a three-run homer to Evan Pasnanski to give the Blazers a momentary lead. But Booker held it right there, and had nine strikeouts in his complete-game effort.

Bell Creek scored steadily and held a lead as Seffner Christian rallied with a late-four run inning, as the Panthers won the SSAC Class 3A championship from Sarasota on Friday. Senior William Miller picked up his second win of the week on the mound, holding the Crusaders to three runs over 5 1/3 innings; before Remy Ramsey worked the final 1 2/3 innings, allowing one run with two strikeouts for the save. Ethan Pederson was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI for Bell Creek; Joey Johnson hit his second homer in as many games; Euriah Benoit was 2-for-3 with a double, one run and RBI; and Kyle Beauchamp was 2-for-3 with a runs scored. Camden McBane singled and scored a run for the Crusaders; Caleb Pelaez singled in a pair in the sixth; and Mason McBane  was 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI triple and one run scored.
