Most Valuable Player –
Wilson Andersen, Jesuit
For the second-straight season, our All-813Preps Most Valuable Player award goes to Jesuit’s Wilson Andersen. The Tigers right-hander won 11 games, including 6 1/3 shutout innings in Jesuit’s 9-0 Class 4A state championship win against Orlando Bishop Moore. Andersen struck out 111 over 69 innings – including FIVE games with 10+ strikeouts – and in five playoff pitching performances (27 1/3 innings) he allowed just one earned run and struck out 52. He batted .426, with 36 RBI, 20 runs scored 11 doubles and four home runs. Andersen is verbally committed to Mississippi State, and was also named both the Wade Boggs Award and Saladino Award winner.

2026 All-813Preps Hitters, Pitchers & Coaches of the Year
1A-4A Pitcher of the Year –
Kaden Waechter, Jesuit
Our 2026 All-813Preps Class 1A-4A Pitcher of the Year is Tigers senior Kaden Waechter, who began his pitching season with a three-inning, no-hit performance to earn a save against eventual 2A state semifinalist Berkeley Prep. Waechter, an FSU commit, then went 6-3 as a starter on the year. His 82-strikeout season was capped with a complete-game win and nine strikeouts in the 4A state semifinal win against Clay, before playing shortstop in the final for the state champion Tigers.

5A-7A Pitcher of the Year –
Mathew Altman, Gaither
Dominant on the mound all season, Gaither senior righty Matt Altman is our 2026 All-813Preps 5A-7A Pitcher of the year after posting a state-leading 13 wins. Altman, a FAMU signee, struck out 83 in 79 innings and had a 0.44 ERA. He gave up more than one run just once in his 15 appearances. He pitched three complete games, including a one-hitter against Strawberry Crest.

Hitter of the Year –
Jett Walters, Berkeley Prep
Class 1A-4A Hitter of the Year Jett Walters had 43 hits this season and finished with a .430 average. He finished tied (with teammate Lucas Farrar) with a county-leading 38 runs scored, 31 RBI (4th-best in the 813), with 20 stolen bases, 24 walks, seven doubles and six home runs (T-2nd in the county). On top of that, Walters also went 8-3 on the mound, with a 2.24 ERA and had 59 strikeouts.

5A-7A Hitter of the Year –
David Simpkins, Freedom
Leading a school record-breaking Freedom Patriots team to its first district championship and a region final berth, David Simpkins is our pick for 2026 All-813Preps Class 5A-7A Hitter of the Year. The Patriots junior had a county-leading 48 hits and 12 doubles, while batting .432, with 26 runs, 30 RBI, two triples and one home run. Like his 1A-4A counterpart, Simpkins was also a force on the mound, going 6-4, with a 2.75 ERA and 86 strikeouts.

1A-4A Coach of the Year –
Miguel Menendez, Jesuit
Continuing his streak of a state title every other year, Miguel Menendez led Jesuit to the Class 4A FHSAA state title, and earned his fourth as a head coach (passing John Crumbley for the most in Tigers coaching history). The eighth program championship came as the Tigers went 28-6, winning district and region titles along the way. This is the second time Coach Menendez has been named the All-813Preps Coach of the Year.

5A-7A Coach of the Year –
Dane Moore, Freedom
In just his fourth season, Dane Moore has brought stability to Freedom High, and this year became the winningest coach in program history. Leading his alma mater to a 23-10 record, our 2026 All-813Preps 5A-7A Coach of the Year claimed a first-ever district crown and led the Patriots to the region final for the first time.
