Sophomore Adan Longoria turned in his second outstanding start of the season, striking out nine and allowing just one solo home run as Plant City stopped Bloomingdale’s undefeated streak at seven. The Raiders offense was paced by Kelein Johnson, who was 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored, Colin Shultz and Anthony Grasso driving in a run each. Carson Mohler finished the game off on the mound for PC striking out three. Bulls senior Jack Owens hit a solo home run in the second.

Berkeley Prep jumped out on CCC early, but had to fend off a comeback as the Buccaneers used 11 hits to win a district game on the road. Troy Reader hit a 2-run home run for his team in the sixth, while Cade Kurland went 3-for-5, with an RBI, two runs scored and three stolen bases; Evan Parmer (win), Owen McElfatrick and Andrew DiMisa combined for 10 strikeouts on the mound.

Tampa Catholic strung together three, run scoring singles in the first as the Crusaders put things away early against Tampa Prep. Tyler Whitfield kept up his hot start to the season, with a pair of singles, a run scored and two RBI, while Baraka Andrews and Josh Batteese each had two hits and two RBI in the win. On the mound Trey Gonzalez allowed one run over three innings of work to earn the win, while Chucky Williams junior finished off the final two innings and earned a save with four strikeouts.

Spoto battled to the very end, but King’s early offensive explosion was enough to survive a sloppy defensive game. Lions senior Dontavious Johnson was 2-for-2, driving in four, while Bennett Weinard drove in two and Elias DeJesus had three RBI. For the Spartans, Chris Baez was 2-for-4 with a run and RBI, Chase Wink had a double and two RBI, while Peyton Nisy and Sean Weir each drove in a run.

Ethan Pues also had an RBI double in the win, while Senior Colby Fanning worked four scoreless innings on the mound, striking out four. Jack Meade had a pinch-hit single in the final frame for Plant.

Gaither 4 – eight innings

James Hill hit a walk-off single to centerfield as Mitchell picked up its second win of the week against Gaither. The Cowboys took an early lead as two errors and a solo home run from Jacob Choe scored three runs, but the Mustangs chipped away and forced extra innings. Austin Grause was 2-for-4 with a double for Gaither, while Hill had three RBI in the win for Mitchell and Aidan Miller (who earned the save in Monday’s win at Gaither) earned the victory with five strikeouts in two innings of relief.

Jesuit fell in a close one on the road at Venice on Friday. Jake Kulikowski’s seventh inning home run cut the Indians lead to one, but the Tigers couldn’t get the tying run across. Kulikowski also had a double and scored the other Jesuit run on a Wes Mendes triple. Dom Castellano struck out eight and was tagged with the loss, allowing three runs (one earned). The Tigers will get a quick chance at revenge as Venice comes into Hyer Family Park on Saturday evening.
