Defending state champions Lakeland Christian scratched out runs in two frames, spoiling a complete-game on the mound from  Ben Cheek, where struck out five. In return, the Vikings had two pitchers Nathan Shane and Tyler Donay combine to throw a no-hitter, striking out seven, while walking four.

Berkeley Prep 5, Lakewood Ranch 3

Connor Leach and Gunnett Carlson picked up RBI hits, before Cade Kurland’s two-run triple put Berkeley Prep ahead for good in its home opened against Lakewood Ranch. Starter Ian Brown went 4 2/3, allowing one earned run and struck out six in a no-decision, while JT Quinn picked up the win in relief. Alex Haire doubled and scored a run and Trey Hinchliffe was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Leto 12, King 10

Despite a pair of four-hit nights from Will Marquart (four RBI) and Quentin Meadows (two RBI), King couldn’t hold off a seventh-inning rally as Leto picked up its second win of the season. Damien Breton (three RBI) and Mikey Camacho (triple) had RBI sac flies in the three-run seventh to seal the win. Freshman Brian Rivera worked the final 1 2/3 innings, striking out three and picked up the win for the Falcons. Coltin Pizzio was 2-for-4 scoring twice for Leto, while Elijah Dukes doubled and Vashawn Dukes tripled in the game for King.

Ben Maskin put Robinson on the board with a two-run home run to center in the first as the Knights won its South Tampa showdown against Plant on the road. Conley Strayer cut the lead in half with an RBI single for Plant in the fourth, but Robinson added one more on a ground ball from Robert Chatfield in the fifth. Kenny Keller went the distance on the mound for Robinson, allowing four hits, one walk and striking out four.

After Osceola took a late lead, Tampa Prep battled back with a five-run seventh but came up just short falling to the Warriors. The Terrapins got a two-hit night out of Jayden Sheffield, three RBI and a double from Ben Mensch, and Owen Fulton doubled and scored twice in the loss.

Strawberry Crest 2, Alonso 1 – 8 innings

Strawberry Crest added a run in the first and scored one in extras as the Chargers picked up its first win of the season. Eli Garner worked 5 1/3 innings on the mound striking out seven, before Tyler Hardin finished things out, allowing just one hit. Matt Smith was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Crest, while Colby Fanning and Alex Mussenden had nice defensive plays in the win.

Bloomingdale 6, Plant City 3

Colby Shelton’s bases clearing triple followed keyed a four-run third for Bloomingdale as the Bulls added two more on a Dominic Gonnella single and held of Plant City for a win. The Bulls used a pitching committee of five players in the game with Jose Gutierrez getting the win and Brock Wilken shutting the door with a save. Cole Cothren had two RBI in the game on a ground ball and sac fly, and the Raiders third run came on an error.

Tyler Castelli hit an inside-the-park home run to get things started and was 3-for-3 on the night, and Tim Mendizibal notched his second save for Armwood. For Brandon, Daniel Santana had a pair of singles and two runs scored, while Kendal Spencer had a pair of hits, a run and an RBI.
